It's a boy!

That's right. #2 is on the way (due April 3rd) and he is a boy. David is very excited at the prospect of having a little brother to play in the dirt with. Now comes the exciting part...

What should we name him?

I decided to have an open vote on the blog and let the online world weigh in on our child's name. We'll give the voting public a 30% share in the decision, with 30% for Jamie, 30% for me and 10% for David.

David has already cast his vote. He thinks we should name the child "the beast" after his current favorite Disney cartoon Beauty and the Beast.

So here's your chance to shape the future. Cast your votes now!!

So was David alloted only 10% sway before or after he chose the name "Beast"? :)

Having no personal agenda, I propose his name to be Jonathan. It would be such a great addition to his brother being named David. Jonathan means "gift of God" and you know the powerful story of loyalty and friendship between he and David.

Again, this has nothing to do with my name Jonathan David... (wink, wink)

Hmmm... I might have to go with Jonathan's choice. This also has nothing to do with the fact that my brother's names are David and Jonathan. Maybe give him the middle name Mordecai just to throw people off a little bit.

We'd like to side with David and give a little clarity to what the undeveloped mind was really thinking when he said "beast." Our vote is for Goliath (expect some really great sausage arms on this monster!)

I'm very partial to the name James. We could call him Jimmy! Or Benjamin is good. Yeah. His due date is on my birthday!

Here's the thing - many "Bible names" are highly overused. I suggest searching for more original names. I propose Zerubbabal. You could call him Bubba! :) Congratulations!

you don't have to ask how I know this.. because I won't divulge my secrets.. but babynames.com has all of the meanings of names, and you can compile a list of your favorites, and then it will give you a link to your list that you can give to people and they can go on and vote on them.. and it keeps track of them.
I'm not saying I have a list.. just that there is the possibility ;-)

Okay, in such important and ground-shaking events such as these, I always suggest a very traditional name... Alfonzo. And if he totally hates it when he's older, he could take on the name Al and leave everyone in a wake of wonder as to what his real name is. Suave, debonair, and very classy. Oh, yes.

I second Alfonzo "the Beast" Shultz.

here are a few good ones;

Howard. (its classic)

William. (it's english)

Wesley(it's romantic)

Uriah(it's biblical)

Uzziah (also biblical)

Let's just keep the goal as finding a name that starts with an uncommon letter. "U" is perfect.
"Q" is better.
